We analyze main sources of total factor productivity (TFP) growth from the regional manufacturing industry of Mexico in the long run, with a stochastic frontier and technical inefficiency models Battese and Coelli (1992, 1995), and apply a decomposition of TFP method as developed by Nishimizu and Page (1982) and Kumbhakar, Denny and Fuss (2000). One finding was that technological change and technical efficiency change are the main sources explaining observed trends in regional TFP of Mexico, between 1960 and 2013.
Se analizan las principales fuentes de crecimiento de la productividad total de los factores (PTF) de la industria regional en México mediante un modelo de frontera estocástica e ineficiencia técnica a la Battese y Coelli (1992, 1995), aplicando el método de descomposición de la PTF propuesto por Nishimizu y Page (1982) y Kumbhakar, Denny y Fuss (2000). Los resultados muestran que el cambio tecnológico y el cambio en la eficiencia técnica son las dos principales fuentes que explican las tendencias observadas en las tasas de cambio de la PTF regional de México entre 1960 y 2013. |
