This study constitutes an attempt to explore existing mediations in the relationship between population and natural resources (P-R) in areas of environmental interest on the outskirts of Mexico City. It focuses on the relationship that the descendants of the founders (set- tlers) in the village of San Nicolás Totolapan establish with existing natural resources in the ejido of the same name and in an area which has not been legally recognized as theirs yet which they have claimed as their own. The strategy used was to observe the subjective view of the settlers regarding their process of cultural and functional integration in the urban social context in which they are inserted as a means of understanding the way this process affects their relationship with natural resources.
Este trabajo de investigación constituye un esfuerzo exploratorio que pretende incursionar en las mediaciones existentes en la relación población-recursos naturales (P-R) en áreas de interés ambiental de la periferia de la Ciudad de México. Se interesa particularmente por examinar la relación que establecen los descendientes de los fundadores (pobladores) del pueblo de San Nicolás Totolapan con los recursos naturales existentes en el ejido del mismo nombre y en un área que no ha sido reconocida legalmente como suya pero que reclaman como tal. Se adoptó la estrategia de observar la visión subjetiva de los pobladores mencionados respecto a su proceso de integración cultural y funcional en el contexto social urbano en que están insertos y entender cómo afecta dicho proceso su relación con los recursos naturales. |
