This article seeks to pin down certain parallels between the mythology of the niños héroes of Chapultepec and its pedagogical use by the state (particularly under the Porfiriato) and similar narratives that originated in the French Revolution and were taken up for educational purposes during the Third Republic. Here, we will examine the cases of Joseph Bara and Agricol Viala in order to compare the development of the civic cult around both of these figures to that of the niños héroes (particularly emphasizing Juan Escutia), as well as the ways in which they were included in the textbooks of both countries in the late 19th Century.
Estas páginas buscan ubicar ciertas coincidencias que vinculan la mitología en torno al relato de los niños héroes de Chapultepec, y su uso pedagógico por parte del Estado, especialmente el porfiriano, con relatos semejantes que tuvieron su origen en la revolución francesa y que fueron retomados con propósitos educativos en la Francia de la Tercera República. Se abordan así los casos de Joseph Bara y Agrícola Viala, para establecer una comparación en el desarrollo del culto cívico en torno a esas figuras y los niños héroes (haciendo énfasis en la figura de Juan Escutia) y la manera como fueron incluidos en los libros de texto en ambos países a finales del siglo XIX. |
