Descripción	This article offers a reflection on the uses and potentialities of the archives found in ethnographic fieldwork. Este artículo propone una reflexión respecto de los usos y potencialidades de los archivos hallados en el trabajo de campo etnográfico. Luego de revisitar las analogías –y sus límites– entre la investigación archivística y la etnográfica, abordamos el archivo de Gabriela, una vecina de un barrio ferroviario situado en el conurbano bonaerense (Argentina). Apuntamos el modo en que la intersección de las palabras escritas en el pasado y las palabras habladas en las entrevistas por nuestros interlocutores puede hacer a la densidad del dato etnográfico. Sostenemos que esta intersección expande nuestras competencias cuando se trata de “estar ahí” y de lo que pensamos y escribimos a partir de ello.
