Descripción	Through the analysis of the relational performance of two government instruments, used in Chile to record data on new buildings, the inscription and calculation operations that they deploy and the orders of meaning articulated on urban materiality are explored. From this, the text argues that its empirical observation is influenced by the communities of practices to which they are linked in their situations of design and application, and proposes that both their data-gathering practices and the narratives on materiality that emerge of these, they express an objectivity situated in that network of relationships. Mediante el análisis del desempeño relacional de dos instrumentos gubernamentales utilizados en Chile para consignar datos sobre las edificaciones de obra nueva, se exploran las operaciones de inscripción y cálculo que despliegan y los órdenes de sentido que articulan sobre la materialidad urbana. A partir de ello, el texto discute que su observación empírica está incidida por las comunidades de prácticas a las que se vinculan en sus situaciones de diseño y aplicación, y propone que, tanto sus prácticas de levantamiento de datos como las narrativas sobre la materialidad que emergen de éstos, expresan una objetividad situada en esa red de relaciones.
