En noviembre de 1946, a escasos días de la toma de protesta de Miguel Alemán como nuevo presidente de México, la prensa mexicana –en concreto, el periódico Novedades– se iba a convertir en escenario de tinta y papel donde se habría de dirimir una importante disputa dialéctica entre un católico e hispanista mexicano como Alfonso Junco y un socialista español exiliado como Indalecio Prieto, sin duda, una de las grandes referencias políticas de la segunda República Española. Entre muchas preguntas sin apenas respuesta, acabarían aflorando las aristas de uno de los grandes problemas que perseguiría a la España peregrina en su diáspora, esto es, los tesoros extraídos antes de acabar la Guerra Civil. Y esto así, porque la legitimación del franquismo también habría de hacerse desde el permanente pliego de acusaciones a los “rojos” del exilio.
