Résumé:This article seeks to demonstrate the presence of rigorism in New Spain from the mid-17th Century on, in line with the development of a new severity in other Catholic spaces, such as the Netherlands, France and Italy. It is based on little-studied primary sources, such as publications on moral theology. Its objective is to emphasize the theological diversity of New Spain during the late 17th Century.
