總結:The theory  of conspiracy,  that is, the idea that national problems are due to the plots of certain social and political groups, usually conceived  with strong xenophobic traits, has played a central role in the appearance  and development of nationalistic movements.  By analyzing the images that appeared in El Hijo del Ahuizote, a popular Mexican magazine published  in the late- nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries, the author reveals how the  Mexican nationalism  of  the  time  created  a certain image of the gachupín, as well as some peculiarities of this nationalism, its effect on Mexico's  political  life and the complex relations btween the Mexican imaginary and anything related to Spain.
