Sumario:This paper offers an assessment of Mexican historiography during the 20th century, centering on the transition from its “institutionalization” to its “professionalization”. It also outlines the dominant theoretical-methodological trends and, towards its end, sheds light upon recent changes: 1) the transition from a history of mentalities to a cultural history, and 2) from a history encoded around the methods of political and social sciences to another in which one recognizes a kind of return to history of humanities or cultural sciences and of human behaviors.
