| Resumo: | This text aims to discuss the implications of a "change of regime" based on a minimal review of the existing versions in the public debate and the modifications that have taken place following the third alternation of presidential power in 2018. Considering the panorama of the Mexican democratization process and with the upcoming 2024 elections as the proximate scenario, it is posited that democracy is an effective reality, albeit in the process of erosion, and that the aspects that, according to the current government, have changed, have not done so in the expected direction. This poses the challenge of ratifying the validity of the democratic regime at the ballot box and the necessity for plurality to be expressed in such a way that allows for the effective functioning of constitutional controls on the executive power.
