| description | During the third decade of this century Mexican geographical structure began to change notoriously. Due to the strong influence of North American economy, the north of Mexico became progressively one of the most important regions in the country, with the emergence of favorable perspectives of economic growth. Soon it became attractive to migration from the demographically pressed regions of Central Mexico. Thus, the north of Mexico was favored by the presence of qualified workers and a growing population. However, the region was not evenly populated, due to geographic, historic, and socio-economic factors that hue and diversify even the processes of migration and settlement. Some regions present important changes in their migratory flow, evidenced by the presence of new entities of origin and the disappearance of others. This situation is clearly observed in the period between 1930 and 1990, which exhibits socio-economic conditions of evident effect and full temporal coincidence. |

A partir de la tercera década del presente siglo se configuraron cambios notables en la conformación geográfica de México. Debido a la fuerte influencia que ejerció la economía de Estados Unidos, el norte mexicano comenzó a consolidarse como una de las más importantes regiones del país en tanto se dibujaba un panorama favorable para el crecimiento económico. Ello se convirtió muy pronto en un elemento de fuerte atracción migratoria del interior del país, cuyos habitantes se encontraban también impulsados ante la presencia de una creciente presión demográfica en la zona central, que encontraba una válvula de escape en el lejano norte. Como consecuencia, el norte mexicano se veía favorecido con la presencia de mano de obra calificada, pero también ante la consolidación del proceso de poblamiento de la región. Sin embargo, dicho proceso no se presenta de manera homogénea a lo largo de toda la región, pues existen elementos geográficos, históricos y socioeconómicos que matizan y diversifican el proceso migratorio y de poblamiento. Incluso, algunas entidades muestran cambios importantes en la configuración de los flujos migratorios, situación que se manifiesta en la presencia de nuevas entidades de origen y en la desaparición de otras. Este fenómeno se observa con claridad a lo largo del periodo que va de 1930 a 1990, en el cual existen condiciones de carácter socioeconómico que inciden claramente y que muestran además plena coincidencia temporal.
