Descrição
Resumo:An analysis of the close relationship between capitalism and space has shed light on the various mechanisms of valuing space, such as the financialization of housing, which imposes types of dispossession and expulsion for the majority of the population that does not have secure ownership, given the control and speculation of economic assets. In this sense, in the approach of various case studies presented in Periferias urbanas en América Latina. Desafíos teóricos y metodológicos para la acción sociopolítica, the authors examine the production process or urban peripheries from various perspectives, where there are overlapping power relations between the State and capital. This collective project is also part of a body of literature that has recently sought to understand the multiple sociospatial processes articulated in metropolitan zones around Latin America from a variety of theoretical and methodological angles. These works seek to analyze how inequalities and contemporary mechanisms of urban dispossession are reproduced.
