Description
Summary:This article analyzes Hermila Galindo’s feminist-political proposal using as sources her papers presented at the two FeministCongress held in Yucatánin 1916 and her book La Doctrina Carranza. How feminism was understoodby some women of the time and her links with “carrancismo” and other political interlocutors are also analyzed. Using gender perspective as an analysis tool, this article poses Galindo’s discourse, with its tensions, oppositions and strategies, as the discourse of a “modern woman” who is involved in politics but, at the same time, shares traditional hegemonic gender standars.
