| Summary: | This article studies the social effects of the circulation and reception of the phenomenon of Fifty Shades of Grey in Argentina, in the context of sexualization of culture, postfeminism and the local agenda on gender policies. It analyzes the discussions that it aroused in the academy and the feminist militancy, its repercussions in the press and in the market of erotic goods and services, and the opinions and experiences of a set of readers. It is a qualitative study that combines textual analysis and in-depth interviews. Similarities are observed with analyzes carried out in other countries and also we pointed local specificities related to the discussions on gender violence, its manifestations and women’s agency.
