Description
Résumé:The paper examines the short story “No perdura” by José Emilio Pacheco (1939-2014), focusing on the way in which it dismantles the concept of “limit”, by transgressing the frontiers between time and space. The paper tackles in particular the deconstruction of cinematographic language through literary language, the interplay of shifting points of views, and the dynamics of knowledge relating to the power of gaze. Pacheco’s tale is subjected to a symbolic interpretation, which reveals a rupture with a monolithic conceptualization of “reality” and “subject” as well as a model of conflict which renders very idea of representation problematic.
