Rafael de Zayas Enríquez was rewarded for his biography, and Ricardo García Granados, Andrés Molina Enríquez and Porfirio Parra for their sociological studies of the Reform. This paper reconstructs the authors’ ennunciation horizon, analyzing specifically the ways of representing the past from the viewpoint of history, historical critique and sociology, as well as the uses of the past to diagnose national problems, to reform the institutional framework and its political practices, and to create a homogeneous national identity. |

Al iniciarse el siglo XX Francisco Bulnes puso en duda la representación hegemónica de Benito Juárez. Una de las respuestas fue un concurso literario para celebrar el primer centenario del natalicio de Benito Juárez. Rafael de Zayas Enríquez fue galardonado por su biografía, y Ricardo García Granados, Andrés Molina Enríquez y Porfirio Parra por sus estudios sociológicos de la Reforma. Este artículo reconstituye el horizonte de enunciación de los autores y en específico analiza las formas de representar el pasado desde la historia, la crítica histórica y la sociología; los usos del pasado para establecer un diagnóstico de los problemas nacionales, reformar el marco institucional con sus prácticas políticas y formar una identidad nacional homogénea.
