Descripción
Sumario:In this study, the role of social capital in the process of social stratification in Mexico is analyzed through data on the extent, hierarchy, and diversity of the social capital accessed by individuals. This paper examines the extent to which social background conditions and educational levels condition access to this social capital, as well as the association between social capital and socioeconomic outcomes. The findings indicate that, in addition to primary determinants such as the socioeconomic level of one's family of origin and educational attainment, access to social capital should be considered a significant factor associated with individuals' socioeconomic outcomes in Mexico.
