Resumo:Following the 2015 presidential election, the Argentine government changed the political orientation of the state from a protectionist development to a free market model. The article analyzes the changes in housing policy through a comparison with previous periods from a historical perspective, with the aim of establishing differences and similarities from the perspective of the commercialization of social services. The authors conclude that for forty years, housing policy has been characterized by the tension between the conceptions of social housing as a social right and as a good that can be accessed by the market, and that the current government has taken up the latter approach with new features.
