Resumo:Two major events in 2022 shook the foundations which have kept the Japanese government’s foreign and domestic policy protected and secure: the war between Russia and Ukraine, and the assassination of former prime minister Shinzo Abe. The former contributed to giving Japan a higher international profile, while the latter created a more complex situation at home. Both developments reflect the series of circumstances that call into question Japan’s traditional patterns of behavior since the end of the Second World War and suggest the possibility of a new beginning.
