    “…This article seeks to pin down certain parallels between the mythology of the niños héroes of Chapultepec and its pedagogical use by the state (particularly under the Porfiriato) and similar narratives that originated in the French Revolution and were taken up for educational purposes during the Third Republic. Here, we will examine the cases of Joseph Bara and Agricol Viala in order to compare the development of the civic cult around both of these figures to that of the niños héroes (particularly emphasizing Juan Escutia), as well as the ways in which they were included in the textbooks of both countries in the late 19th Century.…”
