La media subida se produce cuando verbos no finitos constituyen una frase verbal y el clítico va junto al primero (ir a verlo – irlo a ver). Se intenta determinar las preferencias de los hablantes en el español de Houston, variedad en contacto con el inglés utilizada por hablantes méxico-americanos. Los datos distribuidos por generación evidencian un proceso de cambio haciala eliminación del fenómeno; la disminución marcada y progresiva de clíticos en esta posición adelanta el futuro de esta opción que, según estudios previos, ha gozado de altas preferencias por parte de los hablantes de variedades monolingües del español.
