Sumario:This paper studies the construction of ser and estar with inlative locative phrases of spatial location (La fiesta es en su casa, Juan está en su casa). First, we will offer a critical examination of the proposals that have classified ser and estar in this type of structure as full verbs or as mere copulas. Subsequently, we will focus on the two basic objectives of this article: 1) the characterisation of ser/estar plus this kind of locative phrase as a type of complex predicate distinct from those formed by the so-called light verbs, and 2) the compatibility of these predicates with the eventive or non-eventive nature of their subjects
