En este artículo, propongo una revisión de Diamantes y pedernales, de José María Arguedas, desde la teoría de los polisistemas para verificar cómo conviven los estamentos representados en la novela, cuáles son los mecanismos del orden que ponen en funcionamiento y qué herramientas utilizan para enmendar las vejaciones al sistema. Esta aproximación permite apreciar que, aun cuando se ha dicho que la novela se organiza en función de las figuras blancas, el orden privilegia el mundo indígena.
