Description
Résumé:There is still much mystery surrounding the historical development of the pronoun vosotros in the different spheres of the Spanish language. Although scholars agree that it constitutes a striking feature of the language on both sides of the Atlantic, it is still unclear what prompted the Iberian Peninsula to revert to using it, whilst America gradually eliminated the few uses of it that it still possessed. In this article, I aim to account for the continued use of this pronoun during the first period of Bourbon rule in Spain and to identify in which social media and geographical areas it was to be found and in what contexts it was used.
