| Resumo: | This paper focuses on the identity and authorship of the Consideracionessobre el Testamento Nuevo attributed to Quevedo. Ever since Astrana’sedition, scholars have accepted that the lost work is the same as that whichAstrana put together, using texts taken from a manuscript thought to bethe only testimony. A detailed study of the codex reveals that Astrana manipulatedthe manuscript in two ways: he gave it the title of the lost work andhe created a single work by joining separate texts together. The analysisaddresses the content of the work, its relationship to the genres of sacredoratory, and the style. The paper concludes that there is no convincing textualevidence to link the text of the manuscript with the lost work, and alsoputs in doubt its attribution to Quevedo.
