Resumo:Reception: February 16, 2016Accepted: January 10, 2017This article aims to show that in the episode of don Quixote’s death there are signs of a questioning of the religious and secular powers, in the elaboration of an ironic testament and in the expression of a burlesque view of the Ars moriendi. It also discusses the implications of understanding don Quixote’s death as a sign of sanity or madness when determining certain ideological stances that underlie the novel.
