En su primera colección poética, Jorge Luis Borges reúne poemas de diversas épocas, por lo que se halla muy lejos de ser uniforme: no se trata de un libro dedicado exclusivamente a la ciudad homónima, como el título lo indica; antes bien, pueden identificarse temas que se ajustan a estilos poéticos diversos: por ejemplo, el tema amoroso a menudo se corresponde con el estilo epistolar, el tema del atardecer con el estilo descriptivo y el tema filosófico con el estilo barroco. Precisamente, en este artículo analizo el barroquismo de los poemas filosóficos de Fervor, las “martingalas literarias” o “tecniquerías” que el joven Borges, al mismo tiempo que las censura en otros autores, practica en su propia obra.
