En la comedia del Siglo de Oro se pueden establecer de entrada cuatro modalidades, a partir de los parámetros de consumación del incesto y de los parientes implicados en él (esto es, incesto entre padres e hijos o entre hermanos; vertical u horizontal). Tras esto, en este trabajo se exploran algunas características de la representación dramática del incesto: el conflicto entre el deseo amoroso y la voz de la sangre que advierte del parentesco (con ecos edípicos), la ocasional relación con la religión o el mundo político, la diferencias marcadas por el género y el límite del decoro, entre otras cuestiones.
