La referencia genérica o inespecífica de la segunda persona del singular(tú) ha recibido atención en la tradición gramatical española.Cuando dicha persona se aleja de la deixis interlocutiva de segundapersona, estamos ante un recurso de objetivación en el discurso, queutilizan los hablantes para expresar contenidos proposicionales basadosen la esfera del yo, aportando un significado epistémico. Talrecurso se analiza en dos corpus de lengua española de distinta naturaleza(oral y escrito) y desde una perspectiva variacionista cognitiva,según la cual la prominencia y la informatividad de los referentes desegunda persona propician respectivamente la expresión y la omisiónde este pronombre, así como su distinta distribución textual.
