Description
Résumé:The nonspecific reference of the Spanish second-person pronoun(tú) is a grammatical feature with an interesting meaningful potential. On a discursive level, it can be used by speakers as an epistemic resourcefor the objectivization of propositional meanings, starting fromthe notional projection of the first person (yo) onto the second one.The present analysis will be based on two different (oral vs. written)Spanish corpora and adopt a cognitive and variationist perspective. It will be shown how referent salience and informativeness conditionboth expression and omission of the pronoun as well as shape theirdifferent textual distribution.
