El texto analizado ofrece detalles importantes que revelan el compromiso intelectual y moral del Bataillon civil,y que son, a juicio de la autora, poco conocidos para la mayoría. Se trata,pues, de un libro que merece ser leído y saboreado por todo hispanista actual: integrar la imagen del Bataillon civil con la del enorme y delicado filólogo e historiador que fue, resulta profiláctico en esta hora de desengaño,decepción y olvido.
