| Sumario: | This article explores the attitudes of Mexican unions toward the Bracero Program and the initiatives for transnational labor collaboration in order to solve the problem of undocumented immigration. Based on the archives of unions, the government and the press, it examines the positions of different Mexican unions and their interactions with US unions. Transnational labor collaboration was carried out in order to influence the course of Mexican immigration to the United States and took different forms depending on the type of Mexican union involved (independent, “officialist”, local). Nevertheless, these efforts were limited by the dissonance between the objectives of unions on both sides of the border.
