La Alameda de la ciudad de México se presenta como un espacio público en el que los militares incidieron ejecutando actividades de policía desde los años sesenta del siglo XVIII. El análisis de las Actas de Cabildo de la capital del virreinato de la Nueva España permite conocer el lugar como un paseo regulado e integrado a actividades recreativas, ceremoniales y comerciales. Fuentes pictóricas, manuscritas y periódicas revelan la superposición de jurisdicciones debido a la injerencia militar en el sitio para enfrentar el posible desorden, lo que propició algunos conflictos.
