El presente trabajo tiene como propósito exponer el origen y circulación de algunas estampas y pinturas con la efigie del rey Fernando VII. Partiendo del análisis comparativo de ejemplares de efigies, grabados y pinturas que circularon entre España y la Nueva España durante los dos primeros años de la crisis monárquica española, así como una serie de testimonios de la época, se probará la presencia del imaginario pictórico fernandino, su uso propagandístico y las contrastantes ideas que dichas imágenes, en consonancia con el discurso fidelista de la época, pudieron generar entre la opinión pública.
