Este artículo describe una serie de estafas en contra de las principales compañías de seguros de vida en México durante los primeros años del siglo XX. Tiene como objetivo conocer en perspectiva histórica delitos económicos y fraudes con la intención de enriquecer la historiografía sobre la criminalidad. Para ello ocupa diferentes fuentes, entre las que destacan expedientes judiciales, informes policiales y prensa periódica. Entre sus aportaciones, muestra manifestaciones tempranas de crimen organizado que se especializó en estafar compañías de seguros. Asimismo, describe expresiones delictivas que se alejaron de los estereotipos y estigmas en contra de actores sociales pobres y marginados.
