| description | This article analyzes some economic aspects of the role of Latin America in early globalization through the lens of superregional geohistorical axes. It concentrates on trade as one of the most important mechanisms of globalization, emphasizing some of the key consequences of flows of merchandise and precious metals between continents. On the one hand, it shows how American space, following the Spanish conquests, was restructured and transformed by its insertion into global exchange circuits. On the other hand, it explores how the New World contributed to connecting and transforming large parts of the globe. To show the scope of this impact, this article examines the role of precious metals from the Americas in early industrialization and the effects of this phenomenon on the Hispano-American economy. |

El presente texto analiza algunos aspectos económicos de la inserción de América Latina en la temprana globalización, a través de una estructura de ejes geohistóricos suprarregionales. Se concentrará en el comercio como uno de los mecanismos globalizadores más importantes, y destacará algunos de las consecuencias claves de los flujos de mercancías y metales preciosos entre los continentes. Por un lado, mostrará cómo el espacio americano, después de las conquistas ibéricas, llegó a reestructurarse y transformarse a partir de inserción en los circuitos de intercambio globales. Por otro lado, se explorará cómo el Nuevo Mundo aportó a la vinculación y transformación de las grandes áreas del globo. Para mostrar el alcance de este impacto se presentarán algunas consideraciones sobre el papel de los metales preciosos americanos en los inicios de la industrialización y los efectos que causó este trascendental fenómeno productivo en la economía hispanoamericana.
