Este texto describe las vicisitudes que rodearon a la expropiación del Latifundio Greene en 1958, y explica cómo el movimiento campesino del noroeste mexicano y la política diplomática de Estados Unidos, se conjugaron para que se expropiara esta propiedad, la más grande en Sonora y bajo el control de compañías estadounidenses. También es un ejemplo de cómo el régimen priista de mediados del siglo XX, abrió una válvula para liberar presión y evitar descontento en el campo. Este artículo es producto de una tesis doctoral, la cual se realizó contrastando información encontrada en la prensa de la época, el Archivo General de la Nación y los National Archives of Recording Record (nara) del gobierno de Estados Unidos, así como algunos textos obtenidos en espacios web.
