Durante la segunda mitad del siglo XVII, el comercio americano y el asiático se encontraron profundamente interconectados entre sí, de manera que los cambios acontecidos en uno de estos continente podía desencadenar una serie de modificaciones en el otro. En el presente artículo se adentra en como determinados movimientos ocurridos en China, la India y Filipinas durante esta época tuvieron una fuerte repercusión sobre el comercio americano, y como este mercado, a su vez, acabó repercutiendo en estas regiones asiáticas. A la vez que indaga en las repercusiones que tuvieron estos movimientos en el trato europeo.
