On the other hand, and as a methodological guidance, this paper will examine the relations between the performance of the Mexican economy and its fiscal income sources. This comparison seeks to explain the fiscal bases on which the new nation-state was to be built, with views to evincing the cruxes of the territorial, sectorial and social struggle for the definition and control of the new country’s financial sources. |

El presente trabajo contempla dos objetivos básicos. En primer lugar, la reconstrucción del desempeño de la economía privada y las finanzas públicas a partir del estudio comparativo de varios cortes temporales (1800-1810, 1839, 1869, 1877, 1895 y 1910), como manifestación de los distintos estados por los que atravesaron ambas esferas económicas en un periodo que abarca de las crisis del antiguo régimen colonial novohispano a la revolución mexicana de 1910. En segundo lugar, y como orientación metodológica, nos proponemos estudiar las relaciones existentes entre el desempeño de la economía mexicana y las fuentes de ingreso fiscal. Una comparación que busca dilucidar las bases fiscales sobre las que se pretendió edificar el nuevo Estado-nación, en aras de mostrar los núcleos en torno a los cuales se dirimió la pugna territorial, sectorial y social por la determinación y el control de las fuentes financieras del nuevo país.
