| description | This paper studies the presence and influence of fray Bartolomé de Las Casas’s thought on the work of fray Servando Teresa de Mier, particularly the way in which it influenced the shaping of his original idea of the existence of a pact, a set of fundamental laws, a constitution established in the years after the conquest and where America would be included in the Crown of Castile as an independent realm, and not a colony. We examine the different texts where Mier starts to appropriate Las Casas’s thought, especially two poorly known texts: the Speech of Doctor Don Servando de Mier, born in Mexico, confirming the apology of Bishop Casas, written by the Reverend Bishop of Blois, Monsignor Henrique Gregoire, in a letter written in the year 1806, and the prologue to the edition of A Short Account of the Destruction of the Indies by Bartolomé de las Casas. |

El artículo estudia la presencia e influencia del pensamiento de fray Bartolomé de Las Casas en la obra de fray Servando Teresa de Mier, en particular el modo como influyó para ir dando forma a su original idea de la existencia de un pacto, un conjunto de leyes fundamentales, una carta magna que dataría de los años posteriores a la conquista y donde América quedaba incorporada a la corona de Castilla en calidad de reino independiente y no colonia. Se revisan los distintos textos en donde Mier comienza a apropiarse del pensamiento lascasiano, en especial dos poco conocidos: el Discurso del doctor don Servando de Mier, natural de Mejico, confirmando la apología del obispo Casas, escrita por el reverendo obispo de Blois, Monseñor Henrique Gregoire, en carta escrita a este año 1806, y el prólogo a la edición de la Breve relación de la destrucción de las Indias Occidentales de Bartolomé de Las Casas.
