The coordination for war entailed the creation of a Junta Central, which later on gave place to a Consejo de Regencia, which in turn paved the road to the Convocatoria de Cortes. This whole process allows a new and more representative political regime to be born: the liberal, as apposed to the absolutism of the Ancien Régime. |

La crisis política de 1808 en España, producida por la invasión napoleónica y el “secuestro” del monarca, introdujo un cambio importante en la conformación del poder que pasó de los ayuntamientos y concejos a unos nuevos organismos, las Juntas locales y provinciales. La coordinación de la guerra obligó a constituir una Junta Central que dio paso después a la creación de un Consejo de Regencia, con el que se abrió el camino a la convocatoria de Cortes. Todo ello posibilitó el alumbramiento de un nuevo régimen político más representativo, el liberal frente al absolutismo del Antiguo Régimen.
