El propósito de este artículo es mostrar la continuidad de los conflictos agrarios en el antiguo partido de Cuencamé, en el oriente de Durango, durante las primeras décadas del siglo XX y las razones que hicieron de esa región un foco revolucionario de gran potencial. También se busca entender el proceso de la revolución regional y las formas que adoptó en los distintos momentos la reivindicación agraria. Finalmente, se intenta rescatar a dos caudillos campesinos: Calixto Contreras y Severino Ceniceros.
