Description
Résumé:This  paper  examines  the  situation   of  several  Mexican  exiles in the United  States during  the Great  Depression (1929-1933), how  they  asked  the  different  Mexican  governments to  be re- turned  and  the  answers  they  received.  Particular  attention is paid to the cases of people who were identified  by the govern- ment and registered in official documentation. This study's guideline is the interpretation of the Maximato governments' policies towards  exiles: the paradox between  a discourse and measures impeding  their  reentrance,  and the constant  emission of permits  and licenses that allowed some of them to return  to Mexico.
