| description | This work is an approach to the complex relations between Mexican citizens and foreigners in Mexico during the period between Francisco I. Madero's rise to presidency and the end of Lázaro Cardenas' government. It analyzes the policies for deporting “undesirable foreigners” and attempts to quantify a phenomenon which in Mexican political imaginary has acquired mythological dimensions due to the lack of information on the magnitude of the cases. The paper presents a first approach to the dimension, nature and composition of the group of foreigners who had to leave the country due to the application of Article 33 of the Mexican Constitution. |

Este trabajo es un acercamiento a las complejas relaciones entre nacionales y extranjeros a lo largo de los años transcurridos entre la llegada de Francisco I. Madero a la presidencia de México y el final del gobierno de Lázaro Cárdenas. Se estudia la política de expulsión de extranjeros indeseables, en un esfuerzo por cuantificar un fenómeno que por momentos alcanza perfiles mitológicos en el imaginario político mexicano; agigantado por la ausencia de información sobre la dimensión que alcanzaron las expulsiones. Se presenta un primer acercamiento a la dimensión, naturaleza y composición del universo de extranjeros que debie- ron abandonar el territorio nacional por aplicación del artículo 33 constitucional.
