| description | This paper examines the transformations experienced by Mexican historiography during the 20th century, from the 1930's to the 1950's. From being an ideologized history -that created nationalist “revolutionary” consciences and identities-, it turned into a history with more scientific and cultural claims, in the midst of different political, economic, social and, especially, cultural adjustments. Within the international context, changes in approaches and methodologies took place amid the economic and political rearrangement brought about by World War II and its first consequences. Both Mexico and the United States, as well as most European countries, experienced a “change of direction” that undoubtedly affected Mexicanist historical interpretations, asserting some of them, while discarding others. |

Este artículo repasa el tránsito que vivió la historiografía mexicana del siglo XX, de los años treinta a los años cincuenta. De una historia ideologizada –creadora de conciencias e identidades "revolucionarias" nacionalistas– pasó a ser una historia con mayores pretensiones científicas y filosóficas, en medio de diversos ajustes políticos, económicos, sociales y sobre todo culturales. En lo internacional, los cambios de enfoques y metodologías se dieron en medio del reordenamiento económico y político que trajo consigo la Segunda Guerra Mundial y sus primeras consecuencias. Tanto en México como en Estados Unidos de Norteamérica y en la mayoría de los países europeos, se vivió un "cambio de rumbo" que desde luego afectó a las interpretaciones históricas mexicanistas, afirmando algunas y desechando otras.
