Los cambios tan comentados y estudiados del siglo XVIII no se limitaron a las reformas promovidas por el gobierno ni se circunscribieron a los ámbitos administrativo y económico. En la convivencia doméstica, en la vida familiar y en las relaciones entre hombres y mujeres, hubo cambios de expectativas reflejados en nuevas actitudes, que a veces desembocaron en confrontaciones violentas y otras en transgresiones más o menos toleradas. La documentación del Archivo Judicial de la Ciudad de México proporciona elementos para acercarnos a conocer los conflictos que afectaron a los vecinos de la capital en la vida cotidiana de las últimas décadas de dicho siglo.
