The main one regarded the damages suffered by many Spanish immigrants, such as compulsory loans, seizures, expropriations, indemnification and blackmailing, or deportation, injuries, jailing and even the loss of their lives. These situations caused serious tension between Mexico and Spain. This paper offers an overview of diplomatic relations between Mexico and the Spanish Crown during this period of conflict in Mexican history, during which, however, negotiation prevailed. |

La guerra civil afectó todas las manifestaciones de la vida en Mé xico, esta alteración también se hizo sentir en las gestiones y los usos y costumbres diplomáticos. Las relaciones entre México y España durante el proceso revolucionario tuvieron que enfrentar muchos obstáculos, el principal: los daños que muchos inmigrantes españoles sufrieron por la acción revolucionaria. Por un lado, préstamos forzosos, incautaciones, expropiaciones, indemnizaciones y chantajes, y por otro, expulsión, lesiones, encarcelamientos y aun la pérdida de la vida fueron sucesos constantes que llevaron a situaciones muy tensas entre los dos países. Este artículo pretende ofrecer un panorama general de las relaciones diplomáticas entre los gobiernos de México y la corona española durante este periodo tan conflictivo de nuestra historia, en el que, a pesar de todo, predominó la negociación.
