總結:In the face of the war in Gaza, it was not difficult to anticipate the stance that the third Brazilian government under Lula (2023-) would take, given that his team resembles, with nuances, the one that accompanied his diplomacy during his first two terms (2003-2010). Additionally, Palestine and the creation of a Palestinian state is a cause that his party (the Workers’ Party, PT) has traditionally supported. Before leaving office in December 2010, his government recognized Palestine as a state considering borders prior to 1967 (in accordance with United Nations General Assembly resolutions). The critical stance towards Israel that we observed since late October does not come as a surprise. In addition to being predictable, it occurs in different and radicalized environments, both domestically and internationally, with distinct effects.
