| description | The establishment of official diplomatic relations between the State of Israel and the Kingdom of Morocco in December 2020 is undoubtedly a significant event. However, it must be seen as a step forward within the context of wide-ranging pragmatic geopolitical cooperation between Tel Aviv and Rabat since the middle of the twentieth century. Considering this perspective, this article presents an analysis using the neoclassical realism approach to relations between Israelis and Moroccans, which have made the North African country one of the most notable actors in Israel’s peripheral strategy to strengthen its national security. |

El establecimiento de relaciones diplomáticas oficiales entre el Estado de Israel y el Reino de Marruecos en diciembre de 2020 es, sin duda, un gran acontecimiento. No obstante, ha de analizarse como un progreso dentro de la amplia cooperación geopolítica pragmática existente entre Tel Aviv y Rabat desde mediados del siglo xx. Tomando en consideración tal perspectiva, el presente artículo expone un análisis, con el enfoque del realismo neoclásico, de las particulares relaciones entre israelíes y marroquíes, que han convertido al país norafricano en uno de los actores más destacables de la estrategia periférica del Estado de Israel para fortalecer su seguridad nacional.
