Sumario:This paper discusses the scope of relations between Brazil and Mexico during the terms in office of Dilma Rousseff (2011-2016) and Enrique Peña Nieto (2012-2018). The starting premise is that neither country has cooperated beyond commercial relations of convenience. This question allows us to understand, in part, the reason why there is a heated discourse of rivalry between Brazil and Mexico, although both countries share issues of common interest in the formulation of their agendas on foreign policy.
